Michael Eric Woodward

Michael Eric Woodward, a D.C. Metro area native, has taken pictures all his life, but only started taking photography seriously in 1998. He began what he called "The White Chair Project" where he would invite people to sit for portraits in an overstuffed white chair in his home studio. Word-of-mouth spread about Michael's ability to capture the true personality of his subjects and in 2001, he started a business, specializing in artistic portrait and head shots.

About the same time, Michael was introduced to the D.C. alternative/gothic scene and began to frequent clubs, making a name for himself as a scene photographer. In 2004, he shifted focus from alternative and gothic to artistic portrait and fashion.

In 2020, the business shuttered due to COVID and in 2022, Michael built a home studio where he now takes selected personal projects.

Michael graduated from University of Mary Washington with a degree in Computer Science and has never taken a photography class.
