Michael Eric Woodward, a D.C. Metro area native, has taken pictures all his life, but only started taking photography seriously in 1998. He began what he called "The White Chair Project" where he would invite people to sit for portraits in an overstuffed white chair in his home studio. Word-of-mouth spread about Michael's ability to capture the true personality of his subjects and in 2001, he started Michael Woodward Photography, specializing in artistic portrait and head shots.
About the same time, Michael was introduced to the D.C. alternative/gothic scene and began to frequent clubs, making a name for himself as a scene photographer. In 2004, he shifted focus from alternative and gothic to artistic portrait and fashion.
Being passionate about people, photography and the modeling industry, Michael works with both established agencies models and new faces to help build portfolios.
Michael graduated from University of Mary Washington with a degree in Computer Science and has never taken a photography class.
